LIST2 MIGRATION
---------------
Starting with release 2.2.0 LIST is scheduled for replacement by LIST2. LIST2
has a /LEGACY mode that is a near-plug-in replacement for LIST. Some users will
see minor functionality changes between LIST and LIST2/LEGACY. These changes are
typically due changes that correct long-standing issues in LIST that have gone
unresolved. Please see below for the tentative timeline for removing the current
implementation of LIST and migration towards using LIST2.

NOTE: Although LIST2/LEGACY issues deprecation warnings it will be supported
      longer than LIST is.

Migration Tips
--------------
The following are a number of tips to consider when migrating from LIST to
LIST2/LEGACY:
  - LIST2 enforces data types and formats when inserting/setting values. LIST
does a poor job of this and frequently allowed arbitrary strings to be set
in numeric fields. It may be necessary to change the types specified in the
input file to match those actually being used.

  - LIST2 does a better job of "sharing code" so that methods with similar
functionality calling one another. LIST has many cases where nearly
identical methods are implemented entirely different.

  - LIST2 is more strict about method return types. LIST had several methods
that would alternate between returning a Table or a Vector. LIST2 uses
separate methods for different return types.

If you notice any other issues when converting from LIST to LIST2/LEGACY please
contact the NeXtMidas Team or enter an appropriate DR describing the issues you
are having.

Tentative Timeline
------------------
Release 2.1.2 - LIST2/LEGACY fully supported. DR's being accepted for any
functionality changes between LIST and LIST2/LEGACY.

Release 2.2.0 - LIST is considered "End of Life" and its support will be limited
to fixes for regression bugs (things that worked in release
1.8.X/2.0.X but are now broken) and critical bug fixes for
                fielded applications.

Release 2.3.0 - LIST officially marked as deprecated.

Release 2.7.0 - LIST maps to LIST2/LEGACY.
